This view is based on a black and white photo showing the remarkable beginning of the first Watkins Glen U.S.G.P. The drivers were confused by Tex Hopkins theatrics which created a chaotic start. Cars had been lined up 2 by 2, yet here we have an almost solid line ( left to right) of Jim Clark , Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham, Graham Hill, and Bruce McLaren. Behind them are Roy Salvadori, Dan Gurney, Jo Bonnier, and eventual race winner Innes Ireland.
